The OPPO 5G Hotel

With 5G soon to hit Australia, smartphone brands were all fighting for share of voice. To launch OPPO’s first 5G smartphone, the Reno 5G, we were tasked with developing a fully integrated, multi-channel campaign that would generate mass brand awareness but also educate consumers around the benefits of 5G.

Introducing the OPPO 5G Hotel!

To give everyday Aussies a glimpse of what’s possible with 5G, we created the world’s first travelling, 5G-powered Smart Hotel.

The OPPO 5G Hotel was a 40ft shipping container, converted into a luxury one bedroom suite – capitalising on Australia’s growing craze for tiny homes.

Inside it was jam-packed with the latest 5G technology including cloud-gaming, buffer-free streaming, immersive AR apps and advanced smart-home features.

The entire hotel was powered off the OPPO Reno 5G smartphone which acted as “the brain” of the hotel.

The hotel undertook a roadshow, taking up residency in different 5G locations across the country with famils, open house showings and consumer bookings being implemented.

A fully integrated communications plan was executed, leveraging PR, social, digital marketing video production, brand partnerships and more.

The Results

The campaign was an international success achieving:

  • 100+ tier 1 press articles
  • International coverage in countries such as Russia, China, Japan, UK, Italy and more
  • Campaign reach of more than 25,000,000+
  • Organic social reach of 16,379 across OPPO Australia’s channels
  • 1,500+ unique users & 62 booking enquiries through the microsite
